Our Purpose:
As sisters of Tau Beta
Sigma, we strive to do whatever it takes to serve the band and the
community. Through all of the service we do, we have formed strong bonds
with our sisters that join us. We all have one thing in common: music.
Betas possess qualities of leadership, loyalty, humility, service, and a
caring attitude. To be a Beta is to not only be a leader, but a servant.
Our Greek letters do not put us above the band; instead those letters
give us the honor of serving our band with pride.
Beta Delta, TCU's chapter of Tau Beta Sigma, has done over 50 years
of band service. Helping out is part of our tradition, therefore we are
happy to serve and bring our joy of service to others.
Beta Delta
Chapter Mission Statement:
The Beta Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma
focuses on serving the Texas Christian University Band program, its
members, its directors, and the community in which it resides. Through
active involvement and continual selfless service, the organization
leads to leadership development in all its members. We, the members of
Beta Delta, continually focus our shared respect for music and honor our
devoted ability to endlessly serve others.
TCU’s chapter is the
Beta Delta chapter based at Texas Christian University in
Fort Worth, TX.
We have rush events in the fall and begin the initiation process
in early spring. While our
chapter is exclusively female, we welcome any perspective band members
to come to our events! We
aim to serve our band and our community while being friends and sisters.
Our brother organization, the Gamma Sigma chapter of
Kappa Kappa Psi, shares a similar
mission and set of values.
We often work together to accomplish the best service to the band.
Some traditions Beta
Delta follows include calling our prospective members, Taus, our active
and conditionals, Betas, and our alumni, Sigmas.
Each class has a unique theme, often a cartoon character.
Each family line (bigs/littles) have a unique theme as well,
usually involving their own traditions.
We have a big brother partnership through KKY, and have family
lines that circulate through their family lines as well.
Another tradition we have is the annual guard-the-gate before we
play our school rivalry, SMU.
A newer idea we have utilized is joint rush events, joint service
activities, and other small secrets you might discover as a member.
