Our Purpose:
As sisters of Tau Beta Sigma, we strive to do whatever it takes to serve the
band and the community. Through all of the service we do, we have formed strong
bonds with our sisters that join us. We all have one thing in common: music.
Betas possess qualities of leadership, loyalty, humility, service, and a caring
attitude. To be a Beta is to not only be a leader, but a servant. Our Greek
letters do not put us above the band; instead those letters give us the honor of
serving our band with pride.
Beta Delta, TCU's chapter of Tau Beta Sigma, has done over 50 years of band
service. Helping out is part of our tradition, therefore we are happy to serve
and bring our joy of service to others.
Beta Delta Chapter Mission Statement:
The Beta Delta Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma focuses on serving the Texas Christian
University Band program, its members, its directors, and the community in which
it resides. Through active involvement and continual selfless service, the
organization leads to leadership development in all its members. We, the members
of Beta Delta, continually focus our shared respect for music and honor our
devoted ability to endlessly serve others .
In the fall, we will have rush events where girls in band can get to know the Betas. In the Spring, we have Tauship, where those who have expressed interest in the fall can formally join. Rush events will be announced at band. Go to them. Hurray! Talk to any Beta about what its like and what we do. :)

Third Degree is coming up! Get excited!

History

Once upon a time, there was a group of fourteen girls who called themselves the
Crescendo Club. They were all students of TCU and all members of the band. They
loved music, band, and each other, so they wanted to make a commitment to those
things for the rest of their lives. Most people call that marriage, but since it
was 1957, the only way to make these things their lives was to start a sorority.
Besides...the Crescendo club was kind of a dorky name. People were contacted and
other business-y type things happened, and the next thing you know, Baylor's
chapter of Tau Beta Sigma offered to help the Crescendo Club become Betas. The
sisters of Iota told them of all the many traditions and secrets that make Tau
Beta Sigma what it is, and thus Beta Delta was formed. The new Betas of Beta
Delta decided to name Mrs. James A Jacobsen, the wife of the ever-famous Prof,
their official founding sponsor. Now for 50 years, Beta Delta has grown
gradually, just like a crescendo.
